ABSOLUTE POKER IS ABSOLUTELY GREAT
Up until the end of 2008 Absolute Poker was one of the better online poker rooms on the online poker network but at the end of 2008 Absolute Poker merged with the other online poker site Ultimate poker and formed the new Cereus Poker Network which is now regarded as one of the largest online poker rooms that the world has to offer and considering that the site allows US players there is a ever expanding player base and with some good software on offer and a decent selection of games there is no doubt that the online poker community will be held up by the new network for many years to come.
Absolute Poker is an established poker room, mostly known for a few major missteps in the past, that has taken a big step towards the future with a new ownership group and a merger with Ultimate Bet.
Already offering fund transfers between the two sites, in late 2008 the two rooms completed the shift to the new Cereus poker network, greatly increasing the player base and overall traffic volume.
The new motto for Cereus is "Bigger. Badder. Better." and it's hard to disagree for the most part, as Absolute Poker has created an overall high-quality poker room, offering great, easy-to-use software and an excellent playing experience.
The Absolute Poker software went through a major update as a result of the merge and now offers all the features expected from a major player in the online poker community - fast play, good looking graphics, nice statistics functions and really great multi-table functionality.
The game variety at Absolute Poker is also very good, offering Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo, Razz, H.O.R.S.E. and H.O.S.E. The action is still somewhat concentrated to Texas Hold'em, and in particular shorthanded games, but Omaha is picking up in popularity as are the mixed games.
Overall, the new team behind Absolute Poker has created a high-quality poker room with reliable and fast software, and the merger with UltimateBet will only make the playing experience better and better.
Players are also taking note, as real-money player stats as of January 2009 now show 1,800 ring-game players at peak hours and 9,000 tournament players at peak hours.
